Court assessor arrested for illegal arm possession

A COURT assessor at Lusahunga Primary Court in Biharamulo District has been arrested by police for allegedly being in unlawful possession of a sub-machine gun (SMG) with 248 rounds of ammunition.
Acting Kagera Regional Police Commander (RPC), SSP Peter Matage, named the suspect as Enos Kalori Kazikie (43), a resident of Nyakanazi village in Biharamulo district.
He said a team of detectives, led by ASP Ntelanyanga, got a tip that Kalori owned the gun and was looking for a buyer. The police laid a trap and arrested the suspect on the night of August 1, this year.
The suspect was found with an SMG serial number 4707, with one magazine and 248 rounds of ammunition which was hidden in the boot of a car, he said. SSP Matagi, who is also the Regional Crimes Officer (RCO), said police were looking for other suspects who were colluding with Kalori.
He said the suspect would be arraigned when investigations were completed. He urged residents in the region to cooperate with police by reporting immediately when they see suspicious people in their localities.
