Ulimboka vows to name kidnappers
By The Citizen Reporter, Dar es Salaam.
The chairman of the Medical Association of Tanzania (MAT) Steering Committee, Dr Steven Ulimboka, has said he would reveal a list of people who kidnapped, tortured and left him for the dead at Mwabepande forest on the outskirts of Dar es Salaam City in June this year.
Speaking to The Citizen’s sister newspaper, Mwananchi, in Dar es Salaam yesterday, Dr Ulimboka dismissed claims that he had been bribed to remain silent, saying he was observing directives given to him by doctors.
“I am just following directives and conditions of my doctors, no one has silenced me and I do not fear my enemies, even those who are spreading lies regarding my silence, and those who tortured me, they real know that I am not that cheap and no one can silence me,” he said, stressing, “I am silent because of medication and my doctors’ directives”.
Dr Ulimboka added, “I will soon reveal everything…I will tell the public about my kidnapping, torture and what happened at Mabwepande forest, I can assure you of that”.
Ulimboka was kidnapped and tortured on June 26, this year and later deserted at Mabwepande forest. He was later found by a Good Samaritan, who took him to the Bunju Police Post.
He said he remembered all people who kidnapped him and that, “Tanzanians and the entire world have the right to know what happened to me”.
During an earlier interview shortly after returning from South African, where he was taken for specialised treatment, Dr Ulimboka said, “I was kidnapped by a person from the government, and I know his name.”
