KAMPALA: Chameleone’s case now in hands of DPP

By FARAHANI MUKISA

The Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) will soon decide whether or not singer Joseph Mayanja alias Jose Chameleone has a case to answer in the death of Robert Karamagi.

Mr Jackson Tumwine, the Kampala South Regional Criminal Investigations Commander, said his team has finalised with investigations into the alleged killing, and sent the file to the DPP for further guidance.
“As Police, the matter is out of our hands.

We are only waiting for the DPP’s advice on the file, wherefrom we shall have the right action to take forward,” Mr Tumwine said on Tuesday in a telephone interview with this newspaper.

The DPP, Mr Richard Butera, confirmed receiving the file.

“We are yet to look into the file and advise Police appropriately. As of now, not much can be discussed about the file because we shall advise Police and it will take action thereof as advised,” Mr Butera said.
Mr Mayanja could not be reached by telephone for a comment.

But the Daily Monitor understands that following the December 26 incident, the singer has since shifted his residence from Seguku to Muyenga Hill, a Kampala suburb.
