Police Force sacks four officers
Dar es Salaam.
Four police officers have been sacked for allegedly being involved in criminal activities, contrary to the Police General Orders (PGO).
Dar es Salaam Police Special Zone Commander Suleiman Kova said preliminary investigations showed that the sacked officers were directly involved in a robbery on March 9, this year, at the premises of a Chinese company called Hong Yang in Mbezi Beach `A`.
In the incident, 11 men stormed into the building and stole money and other valuables worth millions of shillings.
Mr Kova said the Police Force launched an investigation and arrested seven suspects, four of whom were later confirmed to have been involved in the robbery.
“Our investigation established that the sacked officers were directly involved in the crime...further action will be taken against them,” he said.
The regional police boss added that the issue had been made public as a way of restoring trust in the Police Force, which is in an operation to cleanse itself as announced by Inspector General of Police Ernest Mangu.
He warned that police would not hesitate to take action against any police officer who violated the forces code of conduct.
