A 48-year-old man in Ibanda District, who is accused of killing his wife, handed himself to police on Sunday morning. Residents said he reportedly used a knife to chop his wife into pieces. Her body was found lying in a pool of blood.

However, the suspect told police while the two were sleeping in their rented room at Bubaare Cell, a group of thugs forced them to open the door at about 3am.

He said they demanded money from him but when he resisted, the thugs killed his wife.
The accused further told police after he regained his senses, as they had tied his arms with a rope, he ran away before reporting the matter to police.

The rope was still in his arms when the suspect went to police. The district police commander, Mr Ignatius Otong, said he had deployed his officers to investigate the matter.
