Dutch linesman Richard Nieuwenhuizen death: Fourth arrest

Dutch police have arrested a fourth teenager over the fatal beating of a volunteer linesman at a football match.

Earlier, a judge in the Netherlands charged three youths with manslaughter, assault and public violence over the man's death in Almere on Monday.

Richard Nieuwenhuizen collapsed and fell into a coma after he was attacked by several teenagers playing against his son's football team, Buitenboys.

He was punched and kicked in the head, collapsing at the club and dying later.

More arrests possible

Two of the three charged are aged 15 and one is aged 16. The fourth teen, whose arrest was announced on Friday, is aged 16.

In a statement, Dutch police said that a group of 20 detectives were investigating the case and that they had several dozen witnesses.

Police said they did not exclude the possibility of making further arrests and asked anyone with pictures or footage of the incident to hand it over to them.

Mr Nieuwenhuizen was attacked at the end of a junior club match on Sunday, sustaining a barrage of punches and kicks.

He collapsed at the club and died the following day.

The exact circumstances of the attack are yet to be established.

The Dutch Football Association has cancelled all amateur games this weekend as a mark of respect for Mr Nieuwenhuizen and a minute's silence will be observed at professional matches.
