Kampala: Bad Black finally gets out on bail
By ANTHONY WESAKA
Black had failed to raise the money since she was on November 16, granted bail by Justice Stella Arach Amoko on her second attempt.
Conviction
She was sentenced to a four-year jail term after she was convicted by the Anti-Corruption Court of embezzling Shs11 billion from her boyfriend’s real estate company (Daveshan Development Company Ltd) in July.
She was also jointly convicted with businessman Meddie Sentongo on two counts of conspiracy to defraud.
Sentongo was jailed for 18 months.
Dressed in a short blue and red dress, and in the company of her parents and a few friends, Black was released by deputy registrar of Court of Appeal Harriet Nalukwago.
Black rose to public fame for splashing huge sums of money at social hang outs.
Her previous release on bail before her conviction saw her paralyse business in the city, as she went around in an open- roof car, waving to her fans.
Born again
While asking for release on bail, Black cited poor health, saying she needed an urgent operation in Dubai to remove implants in her breasts.
Upon her release, a visibly relieved Black said she is now a born again Christian and that she is going to preach the gospel.
