BY THE GUARDIAN REPORTER
A secretary of the Zanzibar-based Islamic Revival Forum Abdalla Said has been arrested by the police and joined with four other leader of the organization in the case pending at Mwanakwereke District Magistrate’s Court.
The Forum’s leader together with his colleague Fikirini Majariwa Fikirini (48) appeared in court to answer charges that included destruction of property and threatening peace and security.
Before reading the charge sheet, public prosecutor Rashid Abdulla submitted an application to change the charge sheet to enable the suspects to be joined with the other accused leaders of the organisation.
Leaders of Uamsho group were charged with incitement, instigating and causing chaos between May 18 and October 19 last year.
Advocate Rashid had alleged that the suspects had caused damage amounting to 500m/- contrary to the National Security Act, 2002 Section 47 (3)(d).
The prosecutor also claimed that the arrested Uamsho leader with his colleague had incited violence that included burning of tyres in different places and blocking public roads.
The advocate prayed however the case be referred to the High court because the magistrate’s court had no jurisdiction to hear it.
