Kisutu Resident Magistrate Court: Case on Ulimboka abduction shelved

KARAMA KENYUNKO
The Kisutu Resident Magistrate’s Court yesterday adjourned to August 20, this year a case over the kidnapping and attempting to murder doctors’ association leader Stephen Ulimboka facing a Kenyan Joshua Mulundi (21).
Prosecution led by state attorney Mwanaidi Komba asked the court to shelve the case after informing that investigation into the case had not been completed. Resident magistrate Agness Mchomem, who is presiding over the case, granted the request.
According to the charge sheet, Mulundi from Murang’a in Kenya kidnapped Dr Ulimboka on June 26, this year at Leaders Club area in Kinondoni municipality. He is also accused of attempting to kill Ulimboka and dumping him at Mabwepande forest, Tegeta area, Dar es Salaam.
When he appeared in court for the first time, the accused was not allowed to enter into any plea because the court lacked jurisdiction to hear murder charges.
Shortly after Mulundi’s arrest, Dar es Salaam special zone police commander Suleiman Kova said the accused had told police that he and 12 accomplices, who were still at large, were contracted to harm Dr Ulimboka.
According to Kova, Mulundi was arrested at a church based at Kawe area in Dar es Salaam, following a tip off from good Samaritans. At the time of arrest he was holding a Kenya national ID and a temporary travel document issued at the border town of Namanga.
Mulundi did not name the person or persons who contracted them, but believed he was a public servant. The suspect confessed during questioning that he was a member of a criminal gang known as Gun Star based in Ruiru, near Nairobi.
Kova said Mulundi further told them the group was led by a man nicknamed “Silencer” or “Paft” and had been involved in many criminal incidents in Kenya.
