UGANDA: Bad Black released on Shs100 million bail

Court of Appeal has this Friday morning granted a Shs100 million cash bail to convicted former city socialite Shanita Namuyimbwa alias Bad Black.

Justice Stella Arach Amoko granted bail to Ms Namuyimbwa pending determination of her appeal challenging the four year punishment.

The court also directed her to report to the registrar every after two weeks starting November 30 this year.

In July this year, Justice Catherine Bamugemerirwe of the Anti-Corruption Division of the High Court convicted Ms Namuyimbwa on charges of embezzlement of US$3.9 million from the company she jointly owned with her ex-lover, a British engineer, David Greenhalgh.

She was also jointly convicted with businessman Meddie Sentongo on two counts of conspiracy to defraud. Mr Sentongo was jailed for 18 months.

Ms Namuyimbwa was granted on her second application before the same court upon confirmation that she is indeed having breast complications that can only be corrected through a surgery.
