UGANDA: Student charged with defaming Museveni

A student of Business Administration at Mbarara University has been charged with defaming President Yoweri Museveni.

Mr Vincent Mucunguzi Rwampakani, 23, appeared before Mr Araali Muhirwa, a Grade One Magistrate at Buganda Road on Wednesday.

Prosecution avers that mid this year, while at the Constitutional Square, in Kampala, Mr Mucunguzi released a book titled “50 Years of Turmoil” in which, he describes President Museveni as an immoral character.

The suspect pleaded not guilty and was granted a cash bond of Shs100,000. 

Mr Muhirwa, ordered the suspect to return to court on December 4th for the mention of his case.
