Suspect in court for 61m/- cocaine case
A Sierra Leone national, Abdul Kiroma (23) appeared before the Kisutu Resident Magistrate’s Court in Dar es Salaam on Friday charged with trafficking Narcotics drugs worth more than 61m/-.
The prosecution led by State Attorney Yasinta Peter alleged that on December 2, this year at Julius Kambarage Nyerere International Airport the accused who is a Customer care Assistant for Res- England committed the offence.
Before Resident Magistrate Sundi Fimbo it was alleged that on the mentioned date the accused Kiroma who lives in England, was trafficking to the country 1228.65 grams of the narcotic drug, cocaine, worth 61,482,500/- .
The accused was not allowed to enter any plea since the Kisutu court does not have jurisdiction to hear such cases that mandate, lays with the High Court.
The State Attorney informed the court that the investigation into the case is not complete and Magistrate Fimbo adjourned the case until December 19, this year.
Meanwhile, Resident Magistrate Walialwande Lema adjourned a case against a Bulgaria national charged with 20 counts of stealing more than 14m/- until December 19, this year.
The accused Toodor Peev Peev (38), who lives in Mbezi Beach is alleged to have stolen the money from Tanzania Postal Bank (TPB) and Bank of Africa. (BOA)
Lema told Principal State Attorney Tumaini kweka that the preliminary hearing into the case will be read on December 19, this year
According to the charge sheet it was alleged that, on different dates in August 2013 at different place, the accused stole money from several accounts.
It was further alleged that on August 2, this year, the accused stole 600,000/- from account number 010-0010-00111649 property of Tanzania Postal bank.
On another account the accused stole 550,000/- from account number 02031850002 the property of Bank of Africa.
The accused is still in custody after the prosecution objected bail to the accused claiming that he is not a citizen of Tanzania and they don’t know if his residence permit is legal or illegal and feat that he might jump bail.
