Singida: Chadema ward councillor arraigned for slashing cattle

The councillor for Mungaa Ward in Singida East, Mr Mateo Alex, on Thursday appeared in court to answer charges of attacking and badly injuring six cattle.

Mr Alex, who is charge along two other men, allegedly attacked cattle, worth about Sh3.5 million, property of Ms Mary John, resident of Minyinga Village Public prosecutor, Mr Mussa Chemu, told the Singida Resident Magistrates’ Court that the accused on May 13, this year at Minyinga Village intentionally and jointly slashed the cattle for unkown reasons.

However, they denied the charges and were released on a Sh5 million bail.

Singida East MP on Chadema ticket, who is a practising lawyer is defending the accused in the case which will come up for another mention on May 30, this year.
